At Home With History

The house dates to the 1880s, the first built on the street by Ohio developer Henry Rhode.  Among our Uptown neighbors is the Mission Nombre de Dios, where the Spanish founded St. Augustine in 1565.  The Old City Gates, St. George Street and the Castillo de San Marcos are a five-minute walk. Beaches and golf are 10 minutes by car.

The first floor parlor is a casually elegant retreat. Comfortable modular seating may be easily rearranged to accommodate conversation or TV viewing, or moved to make room for a wedding, reception or meeting.

A cheerful dining room with table for six overlooks the courtyard terrace, viewed through French doors. The efficient galley-style kitchen is just off the dining room.

The house has two upstairs bedrooms, each with king bed and private bathroom.  An intimate sitting area with TV is shared by the two upstairs bedrooms, which also have access to the old-fashioned wrap-around veranda.

Downstairs, a third bedroom with a private, full bath includes a king bad that may be converted to two twin beds.

Modern Amenities
Enjoying the charms of heart-pine floors and cozy antiques doesn't mean you have to give up modern conveniences.

Cable TV with DVD player is available in the first-floor living room and the second-floor sitting area.  Free WiFi keeps you connected.

The house has central air and heat, with two thermostat controls zoned for upstairs and downstairs.

We have on-site parking.

The galley-style kitchen is supplied with cookware, dishes, cutlery and glassware. In addition to the electric range and refrigerator, we have a dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, blender and toaster and mixer.

An iron and ironing board are supplied.  On-site washing machine and clothes dryer are available for a small additional fee.

Sweet Dreams

Our bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with top-quality mattresses and bed linens.  Each en suite bathroom is supplied with towels and two spa robes.

The first-floor bedroom may also be used as a lounge with private bathroom. The king bed can be converted to a daybed or two twin beds.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with king bed and private bathroom. One bedroom has a four-poster bed and bathroom with shower.  The second bedroom has a private bathroom with a tub and shower, plus an old-fashioned clawfoot tub in the bed chamber.

Each second-floor bedroom has direct access to both the interior sitting room with TV and the outdoor wrap-around veranda.
